If you are planning on taking the LIRR, don’t fret! Whitney Pond Park is off the Manhasset stop on the LIRR, and we will provide FREE shuttle bus rides for festival guests to and from the train stop. You will be asked to wait until your entry time begins before allowing entrance to the event. LuminoCity offers three different admission tickets will be offered: kids, general admission, and a VIP Fast Pass ticket with extra perks! Tickets will be purchased for a specific time slot, so make sure to arrive at your scheduled time. Guests can also see Lumi’s Friends, 12 social media animal influencers that have been transformed into larger-than-life light sculptures! Each design attempts to capture both each animal influencer’s essence and represent the twelve animals of the Chinese zodiac. The Utopia exhibit is inspired by the unique imaginative abilities children possess, and the ways their viewpoints can inspire us as adults. Out of hundreds of entries, six were randomly chosen and transformed into light installations for this year’s festival. Lumi called on children from the NYC and DC areas to submit drawings inspired by their favorite gift. This year’s LuminoCity Festival includes the first Lumi’s Utopia exhibit. This year’s festival will also incorporate holiday-themed exhibits to get you in the festive spirit.
2021’s LuminoCity theme is ‘ Shine Again,’ inspired by the power and warmth of light overcoming darkness. It’s great for all ages, from the young to the young at heart. The annual LuminoCity Festival draws inspiration from nature, history, and multiple cultures to create its beautiful immersive light shows composed of handcrafted sculptures that are lit from within to create a multidimensional exhibit like no other. This gorgeous display will be on show at the zoo until Sunday, January 2, 2022.
